A Paterson, New Jersey man was found reclining in a woman’s car, wearing her slippers telling her that he was sent by God before officers arrested him late Tuesday.

The 68-year-old woman had just arrived home when she found Zakiy I. Muhammad lying in the car with the seat back around 11 p.m., according to Chief Benjamin Fox.

When the woman yelled at Muhammad to leave, he told her God sent him, Fox said in a statement.

The situation became more bizarre when officers discovered Muhammad had kicked off his shoes in the car and was wearing a pair of slippers the woman recently purchased.

Muhammad, 20, was charged with burglary of an automobile, providing false information to hinder his apprehension, resisting arrest and theft, authorities said. He was ordered held at the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $3,500 bail.
